I went to see a bitter-sweet Russian film, The Italian, at Quad theater.

【"THE ITALIAN" Vanya is an orphan living the hard life in a corrupt and cruel Russian orphanage. When an Italian couple come and express an interest in adopting him, he's the envy of all the other children. They start to call him "The Italian" as they figure he'll now live in a nice home in sunny
Italy. But Vanya escapes from the orphanage obsessed with finding his birth mother. Vanya painfully finds out that during his search, the outside world is much more mysterious and dangerous than he imagined. "He runs, fights, and schemes, and during a ferocious eruption of pity near the end of the story, he just breaks your heart into pieces." 】

You can see audience's hearts were following by a six-year-old boy. Vanya struggled everything for finding his mom, he learned tricks in case he would be found alone, he hurt himself that avoiding people took him back to orphanage to the Italian couple... He was all alone, a little boy looking for his real mom, and he was so smart that he can fix all the problems and then survive afterward in the real world.

I would highly recommend this movie, not because it is a "Russian" movie;). However, I can assume that it is not just a story or a movie that simple, it still takes place in the poor country, like Russia, Africa and China of course. Go to see it if you have a chance, I am positively sure you will like it.
